The Dream Catcher Story

Moons ago, a mother was worried that her child won’t stop having nightmares.
She wondered what she could do to stop her son from having these dreadful dreams. One night, she was sitting outside by the tipi, when her attention was caught by a hideous spider weaving a web on a branch.
She saw it catch a fly by trapping it in its web.
She had a sudden vision and ran to get a vine branch to make a circle with it and then, she gently settled it on the spider's web. She believed that if the spider could trap a fly using its web, it could also capture her son's bad dreams.
Thanks to her vision and instincts, her plan worked successfully and her son never had a nightmare again with this dream catcher.
Since that day, many small children have slept under the protection of the dream catcher. Good dreams and bad dreams float in the night air.
The dream catcher receives them all.
Good dreams knows their way through the center hole and bad dreams get caught and trapped in the net, then vanish in the first light of day as they creep along the feathers. The dream catcher hangs from where we sleep. It is given as a gift to encourage the happiness and joy of sleep for all dreamers.
Today, we hang it wherever it can bring us energy. The work done by this spider on that night of nightmares now brings us peaceful sleep, and then helps anyone who wants to understand the message of their dream or vision it brings.
It allows us to grow spiritually and to better understand the meaning of life.
Stone is an element that is part of minerals.
It provides the protection and energy of the dreamer. The vine circle is the plant element. It represents medicinal plants, a protection offered by the Great Spirit. The feathers symbolize the message to the Great Spirit, they represent the birds that were used as messengers at that time. Finally, the leather symbolizes the strength of the animal and its healing power.
This is what is asked of the Great Spirit by burning the sacred herbs and purifying the dream catcher.

L'histoire de l'attrape-rêve

Il y a des lunes, une mère craignait que son enfant ne cesse de faire des cauchemars.
Elle se demandait ce qu'elle pouvait faire pour empêcher son fils d'avoir ces rêves horribles. Une nuit, elle était assise dehors près du tipi, quand son attention fut attirée par une araignée hideuse tissant une toile sur une branche.
Elle l'a vu attraper une mouche en la piégeant dans sa toile.
Elle eut une vision soudaine et courut chercher une branche de vigne pour en faire un cercle puis, elle la posa délicatement sur la toile d'araignée. Elle croyait que si l'araignée pouvait piéger une mouche à l'aide de sa toile, elle pouvait aussi capturer les mauvais rêves de son fils.
Grâce à sa vision et à son instinct, son plan a fonctionné avec succès et son fils n'a plus jamais fait de cauchemar avec cet attrape-rêves.
Depuis ce jour, de nombreux petits enfants ont dormi sous la protection de l'attrape-rêves. Les bons et les mauvais rêves flottent dans l'air de la nuit.
L'attrape-rêves les reçoit tous.
Les bons rêves connaissent leur chemin à travers le trou central et les mauvais rêves sont attrapés et piégés dans le filet, puis disparaissent aux premières lueurs du jour alors qu'ils rampent le long des plumes. L'attrape-rêves est suspendu là où nous dormons. Il est offert en cadeau pour encourager le bonheur et la joie du sommeil pour tous les rêveurs.
Aujourd'hui, on l'accroche partout où elle peut nous apporter de l'énergie. Le travail effectué par cette araignée lors de cette nuit de cauchemars nous apporte maintenant un sommeil paisible, puis aide quiconque veut comprendre le message de son rêve ou de sa vision qu'il apporte.
Elle nous permet de grandir spirituellement et de mieux comprendre le sens de la vie.
La pierre est un élément qui fait partie des minéraux.
Il apporte la protection et l'énergie du rêveur. Le cercle de vigne est l'élément végétal. Il représente les plantes médicinales, une protection offerte par le Grand Esprit. Les plumes symbolisent le message au Grand Esprit, elles représentent les oiseaux qui servaient de messagers à cette époque. Enfin, le cuir symbolise la force de l'animal et son pouvoir de guérison.
C'est ce qui est demandé au Grand Esprit en brûlant les herbes sacrées et en purifiant l'attrape-rêve.
